Welcome to my page! My name is Imogen Bayley.
I’m a Postdoctoral Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute’s School of Transnational Governance.
My book “Fighting for a Future: Postwar Migration Policy and the Displaced of the British Zone (1945-1951)” dealt with displacement and migration in the postwar period.
I’m interested in migration policy and the history of migration also for personal reasons: I’m a French-born New Zealander of Irish descent; have studied in New Zealand, England, and in Budapest; currently live and work in Florence, Italy. I also married in Belgrade, Serbia to my Serbian/Montenegrin husband, with whom I share two beautiful daughters. My research interests are broad and reflective of a diverse education focusing on contemporary Philosophy and European History.
I have several years of work experience in the fields of research, teaching, proofreading and editing. I’ve worked for research institutes in England, Poland, Germany and Hungary on a wide range of projects. I have copy-edited numerous policy and academic publications in the last 10+ years. My teaching experience includes courses as diverse as Academic Writing, Human Rights, and Revolutions. You can read more about my professional experiences here.
I am always excited to learn about new opportunities in teaching, research, and writing in the fields of history and migration policy.
My hobbies include extensive travelling with my family, scuba diving, and horse-riding.
